Geek warning - Apple iBook

A couple of days ago, I ordered a 12" Apple iBook. For those of you that have unfortunately been a target of my all too often drum-banging about the great things that Apple Computer are doing, this might be a relief. After all, Dave's going to actually discover the reality behind Apple computers, Mac OS X, and all things Apple. He'll discover that yes, it does crash as often as Windows, trying to do simple things are just as frustrating in OS X as in Windows, and that the reality just doesn't match the hype.

Or hang on, maybe he'll discover a new utopia of computing. Maybe Macs really are every bit as good as the hype. If this happens, expect a lot more drum-banging...

Of course, I've been lusting after a Mac ever since the original "Bondi Blue" iMac was released, and now, 4 years later, I'm finally going to buy one :) It took a lot of time, but I finally got there.

Expect another long post when I actually get the machine in a couple of weeks!

'bout time Dave. :)

With Panther pre-installed, you've hit the mac market at the right time. Being able to realise how well Apple has integrated everything into OS X will keep you astounded for a while - funky features like expose and fast user switching will keep your eyes drooling. Yes, eyes can drool. :)

I'm getting a CTO iBook 12". Upgraded to:

60GB HDD
640MB RAM
Airport Extreme ($199??!!!)
Built-in Bluetooth

Oh, and this funky little STM bag...the Ultra.

Neat little machine. :) Took delivery of a PBG4 1.25Ghz 15" CTO - 5,400rpm 80GB HDD, 1GB RAM, Airport Extreme, Backlit keyboard - 'tis very nice, although a fellow workmate had major dramas with his screen. No dead pixels, and burns DVD's on the fly for our clients. Now if only the battery would last for more than two friggin hours...

Ooh yummy :) Shame about the battery though. Maybe you'll have to lug a generator around with you :)

Oh, what's your new company called?

We're now known as Constructive Media - don't bother checking for a web site, I haven't gotten off my ass to get one up and running yet. Actually, the funny thing is that we haven't even started marketing but we're inundated with work during a period of the year that's normally dead.

First things that were purchased off the loan account was this 15" PBG4 and a dual 2Ghz G5. Oh, and the Adobe Creative Suite of course!

i've reached new levels of debt. :)

mmm...G5...those beasties look so nice that it's a real waste to hide them under the desk.

Yeah, I was looking for your company's website previously, but couldn't find a thing. Did do a Google for your name though - and you're safe, didn't pick up anything dodgy ;)
